This is the first of many Brian Tracy books I will be reviewing on my website. Brian Tracy is a legend! He has written so many books on motivation, goal setting, business, management, sales, and marketing but this was the first one I ever bought and was in fact, my first ever business audio book (the Harry Potter books were my first ever audio experience, though – Stephen Fry was an awesome narrator in them!).
Goal setting is very powerful and I can’t wait to share with you what I have learned from books like Brian Tracy’s Goals. I will be including more posts about motivation and goal setting, and my books include chapters all about them.
Brian Tracy Goals: How To Get Everything You Want – Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible!
Brian Tracy delivers a book full of technique, interspersed with entertaining and thought-provoking stories to put his methods into a real life setting. By the time you get to the end of the book you will be pumped up and ready to take on the world with an “I can do anything’ attitude!
This book is not just about business. It will give you ways to take on the world and set your goals in business, finance, family, and health. The great thing about Brian Tracy is that he uses references from university studies to back up what he says. This is not some gimmick ‘Law of Attraction’ sit back and let the universe bring you riches without you leaving your sofa. This book uses tried and tested techniques that have been proven to work. But here’s the real secret. There is no secret! You have to put in the work too, and work hard.
Not For Everyone
In the past, I have talked about this book with family and friends and sometimes I get the usual scoffing before they get back to talking about who won the game or what happened on their favourite soap. It seems that self-development books often get a bad reputation. Why is investing in yourself and trying to become a better and more successful person frowned upon by society and even by our closest friends and family? Well, I think it goes deep. Most people want to have it all but aren’t prepared to work to get it and really deep down don’t even believe it is possible. I know it is possible and it’s books like Brian Tracy’s that have revealed this to me. So if you ever get bad vibes from your friends and family about this kind of thing, just ignore them and decide for yourself whether or not it works for you.
Goal Setting Works
I can safely say this works. Setting goals and thinking about your goals every day is mind blowing. Opportunities present themselves to you because you are programmed in on what you want and are subconsciously looking for ways to get it. Here is a weird thing, though. I know this works, I’ve done it on and off for years, but there are times when I don’t do it! Even though I know it works I don’t always do it. I have to be strict and work hard to make myself do it. It’s a strange concept that we are programmed by society not to do everything that is good for us yet we are presented with everything that won’t get us anywhere and that seems acceptable by most. It doesn’t make sense to me, what do you think?
Well, I really recommend this book for you if you are looking at improving your life in any way, especially in business. I hope you give it a go and actually do the goal setting as Brian Tracy describes. I have read a lot of business books and you see the subject of goal setting coming up time and time again. Most times when a successful business person is interviewed, they will talk about the powers of goal setting.
Here is an awesome quote from the book that was made by Napoleon Hill , “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Amazing right? Napoleon Hill was one of the first writers to talk about the power of goal setting and Brian Tracy gives some good info on him in the book.
So let me know if you have read the book already or if you buy the book and read it for the first time. Do try the goal setting and look out for my workbooks that will be available on my website soon. I’d love to hear how it works for you on my Twitter or Facebook page.
