FAQ

What is a cottage bakery?

Cottage bakeries, officially called cottage food operations, allow bakers to make certain goods in their domestic (home) kitchen and sell them directly to the public. In Washington, the cottage food program is administered by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. You can read more about cottage food permitting here.

What do you sell?

I’m a full stack baker! I make cookies, cakes, crackers, breads, bagels, pastries, snacks, and more. Check out the full menu here

Do you sell celebration cakes?

While I make excellent celebration cakes, I do not offer any for sale. Cottage food regulations do not allow me to sell anything requiring refrigeration. This means that I cannot make my frostings of choice (French or Swiss meringue buttercream), and I won’t sell anything that I don’t want to eat!

Do you have options for people with food allergies?

All products are labeled with their allergens, as required by cottage food regulations. While I make maximal effort to prevent cross-contamination between products, I cannot guarantee that anything is completely allergen free. My products are made in my home kitchen using equipment that handles all known allergens (including eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat).

Do you sell in-person or for pickup/delivery?

Both! If you want to order for pickup or delivery, check out the menu, then reach out to me via my contact page. I don’t yet have online ordering set up, but instead will take cash, Venmo, or Zelle when you receive your order. (Large orders may require an advanced deposit.) I sometimes do in-person pop-up events, and am working on setting up an event page with that information.

Do you have order minimums for pickup and delivery orders?

Since everything is baked fresh and in batches, pickup and delivery orders do have minimums. See the menu for details. I sell in smaller quantities at in-person events.

Do you charge a fee for delivery?

It depends. If you live within 2 miles of the Morgan Junction and I can fit your order on my bike, it’s free! Deliveries outside of this zone, or requiring that I drive, may be subject to a charge based on delivery time and mileage. Delivery availability may also be restricted based on my baking schedule.

How can I stay up-to-date on bakery happenings?

The best way to stay in touch is to sign up for the e-mail newsletter. This will be sent out at most once per week, and you can opt out at any time. To sign up, go here.

Can you mail me baked goods?

Unfortunately not. Cottage food operations in Washington are prohibited from selling out of state, or from mailing products within the state. All of my orders must be sold to individuals for in-person pickup or delivery.

Your logo is a dog. Do you sell dog treats?

Nope! We sell treats made by and for humans. Cottage food regulations prohibit sales of dog treats or any products containing meat.

Why ‘Mr. Bun’s Bakery’?

The bakery is named after our beloved greyhound Mr. Bun, who tragically passed just before the bakery opened. We decided to keep the name as a tribute.
